June 27, 2023

The gavel was passed at our annual Transition event, with Cleave Ham being sworn in by our own Sandy Morckel, in her role as Assistant District Governor. A big congratulations to outgoing president Paul Stoney who stepped in mid year to run the club. For his effort, dedication and tireless service, Paul was named the 2022-2023 Bill Hall Rotarian of the Year. And thanks to all new and departing board members and we look forward to another great Rotary year under President Cleave.

NEWS BRIEFS

No Meeting on July 4th

Please note that we will not meet on Tuesday, July 4th.  We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday week.

Bill Hall Rotarian of Year Award to Paul Stoney

The Bill Hall Rotarian of the Year Award is presented at our annual Transition Meeting, in memory and honor of Bill Hall, who was a vital member of this Rotary Club.  Mr. Hall was the founder of the Hall’s Restaurant group and a long time dedicated Rotarian for over 34 years.  He truly lived his life by our motto of “Service Above Self”.

Thanks to the Hall Family for their continuing support, generosity and hospitality for our club, and helping honor our Bill Hall Rotarian of the Year

This year’s recipient has been a dedicated member of our club since 2008 and has served on the board twice.  During his first term he served as Education Chair and expanded our education programs to include supporting the Hootie Homegrown school supply drive, Y-Achievers, Rotary Windows, tennis and swimming lessons for students at James Simons.  He served as our President in 2015-2016 and graciously accepted the calling to serve as Interim President for the past 6-months.  This year’s recipient is the one and only Paul Stoney.  Paul, congratulations! We couldn’t do it without you!

Thanks to Outgoing Board Members

A big thank you to our outgoing Board Members!  Stefany Ceccato and Kelsey Willey have all served 2 awesome years as Board members. Past President Rob Dewey also steps off the Board for the first time in 4 years. We have accomplished a lot during their terms and appreciate their dedication and commitment to make our club “even better”!

Farewell to our International Exchange Students

We will miss Jenny from Taiwan and Lula from France as they get ready to depart to their home countries after a year being hosted by our club and local families. We’ve enjoyed getting to know them both and watch grow and learn over the past year. Good luck to both!

And thanks to Karen Clark and Richard Sidebottom for managing this great program and Marion Platt for serving as a host for Jenny.
